DRB Volunteers at Greater Boston Food Bank to Fight Hunger

DRB Volunteers at Greater Boston Food Bank

On Monday, May 12, DRB Facility Services joined the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) for an afternoon of volunteer service. Long‐time partners in keeping GBFB’s facilities spotless, our crew rolled up their sleeves in a three-hour shift that made a real difference in the fight against food insecurity.

DRB’s volunteer squad— Anthony Samuels, Ken Martin, Michael Oakes, Jonathan Howell, and Carlos Figueroa—worked alongside other GBFB volunteers to sort donations, package staples, and prepare meal kits. In just three hours, they:

  • Processed 8,640 lbs of food destined for families in need
  • Assembled 7,200 meals ready to be distributed across Eastern Massachusetts

These numbers aren’t just statistics—they represent neighbors who won’t go to bed hungry, thanks to the dedication of our team and GBFB’s tireless operations.

DRB has proudly provided professional cleaning services to the Greater Boston Food Bank for years, ensuring their facilities run safely and smoothly. Volunteering offers our team a firsthand look at the impact behind the scenes—and reinforces why we care so deeply about this partnership.

“Seeing pallets of food donations transform into individual and family packages in real time is incredibly rewarding,” says Anthony Samuels, DRB President & CEO. “It reminds us that even small contributions—whether it be sorting cans and bottles or sealing boxes—add up to huge gains in the fight against hunger.”

DRB Facility Services is honored to play a role in ensuring that more people in Eastern Massachusetts have access to the nourishment they need.
